Fruit Til Noon (An easy to follow nutrition framework)

Introduction:


Nutrition is a highly debated topic and nobody can decide what is best for you as a person striving to live a healthy high performing life. I have a simple nutrition guide that I have been following for the last 4 years and has greatly improved my energy and how I feel day to day. The concept is stolen from Jesse Itzler and his book "Living With a SEAL." In the book he invites a Navy SEAL to come live with him for a month and train him. Throughout the book he talks about his nutrition and he follows a concept called Fruit Til Noon, and after reading it, I decided to give it a try.


How it works:


Upon waking up you eat when hungry with one stipulation. Anything you eat before noon is fruit, not fruit smoothies or juices, but real fruit. Pick any of your favorite kind of fruit and start there. I prefer a variety of berries but I will also through in an apple or banana in there to. Once noon hits you can eat regular food. Now I don't go out and start eating fast food after that, I usually keep in to pretty much whole foods and home cooking, but just following this simple strategy could be the start of a habit that is more focused on healthy eating.

Benefits:


These benefits aren't necessarily scienced based but these are what I have found true for me. More morning energy, digestion takes energy from the body to break down and absorb food. When you start a good chunk of your day by eating only fruit which is mostly healthy sugars and fiber, I feel like I have more energy to think, workout, or be active. Improved digestion, I've also found that my stomach and digestion is more regulated. Maybe it's just the increase in fiber but I feel much more in control of how my stomach feels and bathroom timing.


Conclusion:


Nutrition and diet plans can be confusing, overwhelming, and just a disaster trying to complete. Sometimes what you need is a simple framework of how you structure your eating and then build off of that. That is where fruit til noon comes into play. Start with the simple structure and don't change anything else in your nutrition habits besides only eating fruit until noon. Take notes on how your body feels, see if you have more energy and better digestion. Worst comes to worst you can always scrap it all together, but instead of getting this fance meal plan that you can't follow, introduce fruit til noon framework within your high performance lifestyle and see how you feel.
